FAMILY IS THREADED INTO OUR HISTORY

We’re a family business founded on family values since 1981. That means the minute you step into our store you’ll be greeted like family, with a warm smile and an open hand…and probably a greeting from Shadow, our beloved Belgian Malinois.

Family also means quality in offering you the very best in products and services with professional guidance and counsel in bringing all your screen printing and embroidery needs to life.

Much has changed in our business and industry since my parents, David and Debra Lachter opened shop over 40 years ago. We’ve added wonderful, talented staff, new modern machinery…and yup, we’re still family owned and operated after Dad and Mom roped me into the fun!

A LOOK BACK IN TIME

Over 40 years ago, ClothesLine planted its roots in Tallahassee. Our flagship shop resided in the old New Leaf shopping plaza, now the Community Co-Op Market plaza, and focused primarily on retail sales. From university apparel for FSU and FAMU to t-shirts for rock ‘n roll music concerts, ClothesLine began to quickly establish itself as a major player in our local printing industry.

A music and culture enthusiast, legend even has it that owner David Lachter helped supply Jimi Hendrix’s tailor with denim materials for his stage costumes (talk about a heartthrob!).

David and his wife Debra decided to make the move in 1989 into what is now the current building for Clothesline behind Apalachee Parkway. At that time, in addition to custom screenprinting, the evolution of casual Fridays in the early 90’s led to a boom in embroidered polos and dress shirts. Today, ClothesLine is still family owned and operated (with David & Debra’s daughters) and the team still handles printing, embroidery, and promotional item needs for major universities, local schools, public government, and private clientele.
